What does a DOT Physical consist of in Texas?
A DOT Physical in Texas is based on FMCSA requirements and goes over your medical history and any prescription and/or non-prescription drugs you take. This includes vitamins and other supplements.
Your blood pressure is checked and a basic exam of your heart is conducted. Your lungs are also checked for abnormal sounds or lung diseases. A check of your joints and spine is also performed. In addition, we also check your vision and hearing and check your abdominal organs.
Hypertension (high blood pressure) and diabetes do not disqualify you, as long as they are being properly controlled.
A urinalysis is also done to help ensure that you are healthy enough for the job.
